3)  Sociological and Political Concerns

Within the last few years, America has seen a great change in its previous cultural and sociological makeup.  Many of those with Christian and Conservative viewpoints would consider them radical.  The consequence of such changes is that it has served to promote the popularity of home schooling to a great degree.  Below we address some of the trends that are bringing more and more people to see the advantages of homeschooling beyond what we have already discussed.

A)  Wokeism:  Is defined by the English Oxford dictionary as a progressive or left wing attitudes and practices, especially for those opposing social injustice or discrimination, that are viewed as doctrinaire, self-righteous, pernicious or insincere.  Hence, such attitudes or practices are seen as comprising a collective social movement and/or agenda.  The concern for conservatives and Christians is those who promote “wokeism” essientially form a group that castigates and ultimately “cancels” the culture and its people who do not follow this group think.  

B)  Progressive Socialism: a political ideology that leans on liberal to leftist beliefs that expound expression of freedoms without a guiding moral or Godly perspectives.  Radical progressive socialism can border on attitudes or practices seen as constituting a collective social movement or agenda that often aligns itself best with the definition of communism.

C)  DEI: Is an abbreviation that stands for “diversity, equity and inclusion”.  Although touted as a positive sociological attribute (emphasizing a democratic nuance), it actually promotes coercion by those who disagree with the belief, movement or ideology used to  execute a particular agenda.  One of the most noted movements in this regard is the promotion of the LGBTQ+ (which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Plus) agenda.  Interestingly, and generally speaking, this group along with those who practice “wokeism” will cancel those who do not agree with their position which most certainly is a case of hypocrisy exemplified.

D)  Critical Race Theory (CRT): Is a philosophical viewpoint that incorporates DEI as part of core definition.  On the surface it appears to promote altruistic and positive sociological advances, however its true nature is based not on color but the notion that white supremacy exists to castigate and repress black people.  Extreme examples would be the required payment of exorbitant amounts or money to all black people who live in a local township/county because of previous presumed misdeeds committed by white people who are now classified as “white supremacists”.  Another example would be the tearing down of historic statutes of Confederate Generals and even Thomas Jefferson because he owned slaves.  In its most simple form, CRT is actually reverse racism.

E) Anti-Israeli/Jewish Sentiment:  Many of our once most noted colleges are experiencing the rise of anti-semitism and increased activism (demonstrations, sit-ins, etc.) against the nation of Israel because of Israel’s defense against Hamas and other terrorist groups such as PLO, ISIS, Hezzbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, etc.  Sadly many college leaders are in support of this sentiment or purposely not responding to it.
